About Us

Welcome to our facility!

We know our patients have a choice of health care providers and we are very honored and privileged to be their choice for healthcare. Here at Gordon Memorial Hospital we take pride in providing a highly skilled team who is devoted to providing patients with quality medical care and services.

With four facilities under our umbrella of Gordon Memorial Health Services, we pride ourselves on team work and working for the betterment of our patients and residents. All four of our facilities are pillars of our communities and proud to be rural and community focused.

Founded in 1905, the early records show the first known Hospital in Gordon were then. It was then moved to at 600 N Main Street in 1931 by Dr F.W. Vaughn, and later sold to Dr. F.W. Wanek and Dr. W.K. Wolf. In 1949 representative group of businessmen, farmers, and ranchers met to formulate plans for a new hospital. In six weeks the people of the area had donated $150,000 and the new hospital opened in 1952 at the present location; in 1959 a hospital district was approved.

It was the long realization of the dream of Dr. Wanek to provide medical facilities that would attract doctors to this rural area, and provide residents with the best care. In the long succession of doctors that followed, to the present most long term doctors were native Nebraskans including Dr. Metcalf, Dr. Tom Wallace, Dr. Owen, Dr. Panzer and Dr. Hutchins.

Gordon Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access 25-bed hospital. We have staff of over 90 employees. We have a service population of 5,500 people in Northwestern Nebraska in Sheridan County.
